Get quotesEV Charger Installation
Level 2 home charger on a dedicated 240V circuit. Most Charlotte installs done in a day. Duke Energy Charger Prep Credit available.
Solar Installation
Residential solar sized for your roof and usage. Duke Energy PowerPair must be confirmed before counting any solar-plus-battery incentive.
Battery Storage
Home battery systems keep you running through outages and reduce peak-rate electricity costs. Often paired with solar.
Panel Upgrades
Upgrading from 100A to 200A or 400A service. Often needed before adding an EV charger or solar system, but not always.
Solar + EV Charger
Installing both at once saves on permits, handles the panel assessment once, and covers every available NC incentive in a single project.
Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing cities in the Southeast, and EV adoption has kept pace. The city's spread-out layout means long commutes, and Level 1 charging (the cord that ships with most EVs) adds about five miles of range per hour. That's not enough for daily driving in a city this size. A Level 2 charger on a 240V circuit adds 20 to 30 miles per hour and makes a near-empty battery ready overnight.
Many Charlotte homes built after the 1990s have a 200-amp panel with capacity for a new 40 or 50-amp circuit. Older neighborhoods like Dilworth, Plaza Midwood, and parts of NoDa sometimes have 100-amp service, which needs upgrading before an EV charger or large solar system can be added. It's worth having an electrician check your panel before booking.
Mecklenburg County requires an electrical permit and inspection for any new 240V circuit. Your contractor pulls the permit before starting and schedules the inspection afterward. The process is routine. Most inspections in Mecklenburg County clear within a few days of the work being done.
Charlotte is Duke Energy Carolinas territory. New solar customers use Duke's revised net-metering riders, where direct use of your own solar still matters most and monthly net exports are credited under the current rider rules. Duke Energy Carolinas PowerPair is at or near capacity as of June 2026, so do not build the $9,000 solar-plus-battery incentive into a Charlotte budget unless Duke confirms a reservation or remaining application path.
